Message, Chairman ABB

On behalf of the Association of Bankers, Bangladesh Limited (ABB), I am pleased to send best compliments and wishes to the publishers of Banking Almanac.

I am delighted to learn that Banking Almanac: Banks and Financial Institutions of Bangladesh 2016 is going to be published for the first time in Bangladesh. This fills a long existing void and information gap in our fast developing nation.

The banking industry comprising of commercial and specialized banks and non-bank financial institutions is flourishing and expanding fast, and contributing strongly to the economic development of the country. However, the information relating to products and services offered by the banking industry were not, hitherto, available in a consolidated and comparative form. Against this backdrop, publication of the Banking Almanac is a milestone and will usher in many more editions in the future.

The publication of the Banking Almanac will facilitate easy access to required data with much needed information on comparable benefits and costs for its beneficiaries and users, both at home and abroad. The clients will now be able to weigh options and better decide about products and services they would like to avail at competitive prices. The banks and financial institutions will now be better equipped to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and be able to evolve new strategies to protect and improve their respective positions.

I am confident that the main sectors of the economy, especially, the manufacturing and services sectors and trade and commerce, will be greatly benefitted by consulting the Banking Almanac.

I would like to convey my sincere thanks to the esteemed members of the Editorial Board of the Banking Almanac, Weekly ShikkhaBichitra, and the publication teams for their untiring efforts to make it a success. My sincere gratitude goes to Bangladesh Bank for their support towards the publication of the Banking Almanac.
